Congo and Cameroon face each other on September 29 at the Alphonse Massamba-Débat Stadium in Brazzaville on the second matchday of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Group G.

The Red Devils, beaten 0-1 in Namibia, want to respond at home against the Indomitable Lions, who opened with a 3-1 victory over Comoros.

Le Roy lucid after opening defeat

The Congo coach reflected on the defeat on the first matchday. “We reviewed the first matchday game; we did not deserve to win that match, perhaps a draw. We worked on that,” he admitted, highlighting the corrective work carried out during the week to get back on track.

The truth on the pitch

Asked about Cameroon’s status as favorites and the apparent imbalance between the two nations, the French coach acknowledged the opponent’s theoretical superiority while dismissing any notion of resignation. “Against Cameroon, if you look at the statistics, the contest appears uneven. But in football, statistical results and the truth on the pitch are two different things,” Claude Le Roy insisted with all the experience for which he is known.
