2030 World Cup final: Gianni Infantino and Morocco, FIFA denies allegations

Just hours after the controversy erupted over Gianni Infantino's alleged proposal to Morocco regarding the 2030 World Cup final, FIFA has broken its silence to set the record straight.

FIFA wasted no time in responding. The organization in charge of global football quickly addressed the Times' revelations about its president, Gianni Infantino. The British daily claimed that the FIFA president had offered Morocco the chance to host the World Cup final in 2030, in exchange for public support during the upcoming FIFA presidential election in March 2027.

This news broke at a time when Infantino is weakened by several controversies and is now seeking to shore up his backing just months ahead of the FIFA presidential vote. Questioned by Spanish news agency EFE, FIFA firmly denied these allegations.

In its statement to the media, the governing body described it as "false and misleading" to claim that Gianni Infantino had made any promise regarding the host country for the 2030 World Cup final. FIFA also reiterated that no decision has yet been made on the matter and stressed that the choice of the stadium that will host the final will be made "in due course."
