AFCON 2027 (Q): here is the referee for the Ghana–Gambia match

The Confederation of African Football has appointed Mustapha Kechchaf to officiate the match between Ghana and Gambia. It is a match counting toward the second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

An officiating team made up of several nationalities

Mustapha Kechchaf will be assisted by his compatriot Lahsen Azgaou, who has been appointed first assistant referee. Tunisian Yassine Saadaoui will serve as second assistant referee, while his compatriot Amir Loucif will be the fourth official.

The officiating team will be completed by Liberian Sekou Wieh Konneh, appointed match commissioner, and Nigerian Abel Baba, who will be responsible for assessing the officiating. Ghanaian Danny Adotey, meanwhile, will oversee media operations at the venue.

Ghana looking to respond against Gambia

The match will be played at the Accra Sports Stadium this Tuesday, September 29, as part of Group C of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. Ghana will enter the fixture looking to bounce back after losing 2-0 to Côte d’Ivoire on the opening matchday. At home, the Black Stars will look to secure a positive result against Gambia’s Scorpions.

For their part, the Gambia national team will look to take advantage of this clash to earn points in a group that also includes Somalia and Côte d’Ivoire. This second match could already prove significant in the race for qualification, as both teams pursue their goal of reaching the final tournament of the 2027 AFCON, to be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
