Former Algerian international and Napoli icon Faouzi Ghoulam was effusive in his praise for Riyad Mahrez. In an interview with the Arabic-language outlet WinWin, the ex-left back highlighted the immense value of the Greens' captain, despite his move to Saudi Arabia.

Indeed, Ghoulam believes that the Al-Ahli winger remains a global benchmark for his role.

“Mahrez is my brother. At his peak, he was among the five best players in the world and, even today, I still consider him one of the top ten.”

“He has been decisive for Al Ahli, helping them win two consecutive Asian Champions League titles. If he were to return to Europe tomorrow, he could still play for any top club.”
