Argentina - Burkina Faso: match under threat after two false starts by the Stallions
The match between Argentina and Burkina Faso, scheduled for this weekend, is uncertain. The Burkina Faso national team is still in Morocco after two false starts to Buenos Aires.
The Stallions have not yet reached Argentina, while time is running out. According to Moussavou Billa of FasoSports, the players were ready to leave their hotel with their luggage on two occasions, but flight-related problems prevented their departure.
Travel-related difficulties
Romain Molina provided details about the difficulties encountered by the Burkina Faso delegation. According to him, as was the case with Mauritania’s trip last March, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) commissioned Eurodata Sport Ltd, a company run by Jairo Pachon, a FIFA match agent, to organise the match.
According to Molina, the AFA covers the costs and travel expenses, without paying its opponent a participation fee or a share of the revenue generated by the match. The proposed arrangements are based on a commercial flight, with a preference for the least expensive option.
Mauritania rejected these conditions in March because of the length of the journey and ultimately paid for a private flight itself.
Amir Abdou is still waiting for his players
The Burkina Faso players have not yet trained in Argentina, while Amir Abdou had hoped to prepare for the match under normal conditions.
No cancellation has officially been announced so far. The Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF) is expected to communicate on the situation and the measures taken to enable the Stallions to reach Buenos Aires.
The time available before the match is now rapidly running out.
