Argentina: Lionel Messi spoke with Miroslav Klose
In this 2026 World Cup, Lionel Messi seized the record from Germany’s Miroslav Klose by officially becoming the competition’s all-time top scorer (21 goals).
During the tournament, the Albiceleste captain took the time to chat with the former Bayern Munich striker.
"The Argentina coach, Lionel Scaloni, was my teammate at Lazio Rome. We’re still in regular contact. He arranged a call between Messi and me, and it was a really moving moment. Of course, we’ve crossed paths on the pitch from time to time, always with mutual respect. But this phone call was the first time we’d had such a long conversation off the field. He told me he’d send me a signed shirt," Klose revealed during a show for FC Nuremberg.
