Football fans are waiting to find out who will win the 2026 Ballon d'Or , during a ceremony that will highlight the stars' performances throughout the season and reward those responsible for the most remarkable individual displays.

The British capital, London, is hosting the trophy presentation ceremony tonight, in an exceptional edition that coincides with the 70th anniversary of the award's creation. The ceremony is taking place at the London Palladium, for the first time in London rather than Paris.

The Ballon d'Or was created in 1956, the year when England's Stanley Matthews won the very first edition, allowing the award to celebrate seven decades of history this year.

In the race for the 2026 edition, the names of Frenchman Kylian Mbappé, Spaniard Lamine Yamal and Englishman Harry Kane are among the leading candidates. The winner will be announced during the ceremony.

The evening will also include the announcement of other individual awards, notably the prize for the best women's player, the best goalkeeper and the best young player.
