Bayern Munich are already preparing their next defensive options. According to Bild, the Bavarian club are impressed by the profile of Tomás Araújo, the Portuguese defender from Benfica.

Araújo could become a Bayern target

Bayern had considered signing a defender this summer, but no key player in the back line left Munich. The club therefore postponed the operation. However, the matter could return to the agenda if Min-jae Kim does not extend his contract.

Negotiations between the South Korean defender and Bayern have not yet reached an agreement, according to Bild. In this scenario, Araújo could become a concrete option for Vincent Kompany and his management team.

Benfica want at least €40 million

Tomás Araújo is under contract with Benfica until June 30, 2029. His contract contains an €80 million release clause, but the Portuguese club would be prepared to negotiate from €40 million.

The 24-year-old defender is currently enjoying an encouraging season, with 11 appearances, one goal and one assist. Bayern now know the price they would need to consider for the Portuguese player. It remains to be seen whether developments in the Min-jae Kim situation will prompt the Bavarian club's executives to take concrete action.
