Norwegian striker Erling Haaland (26) achieved a double feat in the Champions League, surpassing football legend Lionel Messi in the number of matches and age required to reach 60 goals.

Despite Manchester City’s 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, the Norwegian striker scored twice in the 53rd and 75th minutes, taking his tally to 61 goals in the competition.

Thanks to this performance, Haaland became the fastest player to reach 60 goals in the prestigious European competition, needing just 60 matches, compared with Messi’s 80.

The Manchester City star also took the record for the youngest player to reach this goal tally away from Messi, achieving it at the age of 26 years and 85 days, one day ahead of the Argentine striker.

In the all-time top scorers’ standings in the competition, Haaland is in seventh place with 61 goals, ahead of Germans Thomas Müller and Harry Kane, who have 57 goals each.
