Chicago Fire: Robert Lewandowski dedicates his first goals to his father

Weeks after his arrival in MLS from FC Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski has already opened his account in the colors of Chicago Fire.

The Polish striker netted his first two goals for his new club during the victory over Charlotte. Robert Lewandowski delivered a decisive brace to secure all three points for his side. It was a particularly meaningful performance for the former Bayern Munich and Dortmund marksman, who also spoke about his gradual adaptation to his new environment after several weeks of preparation.

In the post-match press conference, the Polish international explained that these first goals carried special emotional significance: "As has been the case throughout my career, my father is watching over me from above. That was the case again today, and it means a great deal to me. I think I benefited from some special circumstances, because I was still in a preparation phase. These three weeks made a huge difference. I worked extremely hard this week and I could already feel in training that I was regaining more strength and power in my legs. I knew it would take time to integrate into the team, regain peak fitness, and adapt to this new environment, especially since my teammates had started working much earlier. I had to catch up to their level, but I knew that after these three weeks, things would get better. Today, I felt much more at ease on the pitch, and I think with every match, our teamwork will become more and more natural."
