Egypt midfielder Emam Ashour sparked West Ham transfer interest after his stunning MVP display against Belgium in Monday's World Cup opener.

A masterclass on the global stage

The Al Ahly midfielder enjoyed a dream start to his World Cup 2026 campaign netting a clinical opener against Belgium before the European side rescued a 1-1 draw.

Bazili noted that while elite European sides might hesitate due to Ashour’s brief, 7 game stint with Danish club Midtjylland in 2023, West Ham represents the perfect stepping stone.

Tactically the 28 year old offers immense versatility for Nuno’s preferred 4-2-3-1 setup. Against Belgium, he tormented right back Thomas Meunier from the left wing while tracking back relentlessly to help Ahmed Fatouh neutralize Leandro Trossard.
