As calls mount from all sides for Gianni Infantino to step down as FIFA president, Javier Tebas does not see Nasser Al-Khelaïfi as capable of replacing the Swiss leader.

In an interview with RMC, Javier Tebas shared his thoughts on the possibility of Nasser Al-Khelaïfi taking over the presidency of FIFA. While UEFA has been pushing in recent days for the Paris Saint-Germain president to challenge Gianni Infantino, the Spanish league boss believes he is far from the ideal candidate.

"I believe Nasser would be better as president of PSG. In that role, he would make a poor FIFA president," declared the outspoken executive about the Qatari. It's worth noting that the LaLiga president and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi have traded barbs in the media before.

"I don't like his concept of football, and he doesn't work within the European football model that I aspire to. Plus, he is the president of the European Club Association (ECA), which has 800 clubs, and yet only a tiny minority, including him, actually have a say. So he advocates for an elitist model that I simply do not support," Tebas added.

For now, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has not announced any plans to run in the upcoming FIFA presidential election in 2027.
