FIFA: Opponents of Gianni Infantino ready to launch their own competition

In recent days, several confederations have been determined to oust Gianni Infantino from the FIFA presidency. The opponents of the global football chief are considering paralyzing FIFA and organizing their own international competitions if the Swiss-Italian leader remains in office.

In just one week, the movement against Gianni Infantino has taken on an entirely new dimension. While the FIFA president is seeking a fourth term, numerous federations and confederations have decided to withdraw their support following the controversy sparked by the FIFA Forward Enterprises project. The initiative aimed to sell private investors a stake in competitions organized by world football's governing body—a move seen as an attempt to "sell off" the World Cup, which quickly provoked a backlash.

From UEFA to CONCACAF, and several national federations in between, numerous entities have declared they do not support Infantino's project, forcing him to backtrack. However, according to The Times, Infantino's adversaries are prepared to go much further. They are reportedly ready to boycott FIFA tournaments and launch new international competitions in parallel if Gianni Infantino refuses to step down.
