FIFA ranking: Ivory Coast moves up a spot ahead of the World Cup
FIFA has released its latest world rankings ahead of the World Cup, and Ivory Coast is on the rise.
Thanks to their historic 2-1 victory over France and a win against Philadelphia Union II, the Elephants have climbed one spot in the rankings. They now sit 33rd in the world, up from 34th last April—a small step forward that reflects the positive momentum under the leadership of Emerse Faé.
On the continental stage, Africa's top five remain unchanged, with the Ivorians holding onto sixth place on the continent despite their global progress.
With this boost, the Ivorians head into the World Cup with greater confidence. In their fourth appearance, Didier Drogba's homeland is aiming to break the curse and finally make it out of the group stage. Ivory Coast will kick off their campaign on June 14 against Ecuador.
