A strong start for Côte d'Ivoire in the 2026 World Cup as they secured a 1-0 victory over Ecuador. After the match, Yan Diomandé revealed his ambitions.

This win brings a boost of confidence to Emerse Faé's squad, as Yan Diomandé shared after the final whistle. "Yes, of course, it's always good to start a tournament with a win to build confidence. That's what we did today, and we're happy. It's a pleasure because the match was tough. Ecuador is a great team. (...) We didn't come here just to take part—we want to make history. We arrived with the mentality to win everything," stated the RB Leipzig winger.

Next Saturday, Côte d'Ivoire will face Germany on matchday two.
