Ivory Coast: two pieces of bad news for Hervé Renard three days before announcing his squad

With Ivory Coast manager Hervé Renard preparing to announce his squad for the November matches, he must contend with Ghislain Konan’s withdrawal and the uncertainty surrounding Manchester United player Amad Diallo.

For his second gathering since returning to the Ivory Coast national team, the French coach will first have to manage several absences. Just days before announcing his squad, Hervé Renard has already lost Ghislain Konan and is awaiting the diagnosis on Amad Diallo. With six points and no goals conceded, the Elephants will face Gambia twice. The Ivorians may therefore be unable to do so under the best conditions.

Amad Diallo injured

Hervé Renard’s first concern is Amad Diallo. Although he started for Manchester United on Saturday against Chelsea, the Ivorian winger was forced to leave the pitch in the 76th minute after feeling muscular pain. No precise diagnosis or period of unavailability has yet been communicated. His call-up to the national team is uncertain.

His absence would not leave Ivory Coast without a solution. He brings the ability to accelerate, combine and create openings from the right flank or in a more central position.

Ghislain Konan already ruled out

Ghislain Konan, meanwhile, is suffering from a medial collateral ligament injury in his knee. He sustained it in training with Wolverhampton. The left-back is expected to be sidelined for around eight weeks, although no surgery will be required.
