Galatasaray: Wilfried Singo returns after two-month absence
Wilfried Singo has returned to competition. After being absent since the third round, the Ivorian right-back featured in Galatasaray's 2-1 win over Fenerbahçe on Monday in the Istanbul derby. He played his first minutes since August 29.
Eight minutes to restart his season
Wilfried Singo came on two minutes before the end of the match. He replaced Victor Osimhen in the final minutes of the derby. The 25-year-old defender thus featured in his team's 2-1 victory. He had played his last match in the 3-2 win over Göztepe on August 29.*
The former Monaco player enjoyed a full season last year, making 19 appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the Turkish top flight. This eight-minute appearance marks the beginning of his effort to reclaim his starting place.
An option for Hervé Renard
This return comes at the right time for Côte d'Ivoire. Wilfried Singo missed the October international break and the start of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers under Hervé Renard. With the announcement that Ghislain Konan will be absent for eight weeks, a new defensive solution is emerging for the Elephants.
