Yaya Fofana continues to impress in the colours of Stade de Reims. On Monday evening, the Ivorian international contributed to his team’s victory over FC Sochaux (2-0), scoring the second goal after helping create the opener. With nine goals and two assists in eleven appearances, he has established himself among the league’s most decisive players.

Fofana decisive in Reims’ victory

Stade de Reims did not take long to take control of the match. Sambou Soumano opened the scoring in the 6th minute, before Yaya Fofana doubled the lead five minutes later. This victory allows Reims to preserve their unbeaten record after eleven league matches. They remain in touch with Nancy, who defeated Red Star (4-1) at the same time.

At 22, Fofana is posting remarkable statistics for an attacking midfielder. With nine goals and two assists, he sits top of the Ligue 2 scoring charts. His attacking output reflects his growing influence in Reims’ play. Capable of making forward runs, creating chances and making the difference in the final third, the Ivorian is emerging as one of the players to watch this season.

A return to the spotlight after a difficult period

This success takes on particular significance when one remembers that a year ago, Fofana was sidelined by a stress fracture. Since then, the Ivorian midfielder has regained his rhythm and has continued to deliver decisive performances.

Reims now have a key component of their attacking play, while Côte d’Ivoire can closely follow the development of this 22-year-old talent. The diamond still needs polishing, but Yaya Fofana is already making a name for himself in Ligue 2.
