As the fourth matchday of the Champions League league phase gets underway this Tuesday, Lamine Yamal is on the verge of claiming a new record in Europe’s most prestigious competition.

With 13 goals in the competition before turning 20, the FC Barcelona winger is currently level with Kylian Mbappé at the top of the all-time standings for the leading scorers under the age of 20. According to details reported by Marca, the 2026 World Cup winner could overtake his rival as early as tonight against Aston Villa and move into sole possession of the top spot. He even has the entire season ahead of him to extend the gap, as he will not turn 20 until July 17.

Haaland on 10 goals

It is therefore another race between Mbappé and Yamal, following their battle for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, which was won by Harry Kane. Behind them, Erling Haaland has 10 goals, while Jude Bellingham, Patrick Kluivert, Karim Benzema and Raúl each have six before turning 20.

With FC Barcelona, Lamine Yamal heads into this European fixture full of confidence after contributing to three goals in Barça’s 6-1 win over Alavés. He scored twice and provided an assist. He already has 12 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season.
