Ibrahima Chérif Fofana officially signs for AIK

Ibrahima Chérif Fofana is taking another step in his career. AIK have officially announced the arrival of the attacking midfielder, who is currently under contract with AFC Eskilstuna. The 2025 player will join his new team in January and has signed a deal through the end of the 2030 season.

A notable rise at AFC Eskilstuna

Having joined AFC Eskilstuna in spring 2025 from Kaloum AS, Fofana has gradually established himself in Swedish football. In his first season in Ettan Norra, he scored three goals and provided five assists in 21 appearances, including five starts.

This season, the player has reached another level. He has seven goals and nine assists in 29 league matches, making 26 starts. His performances have caught AIK’s attention.

A contract through 2030

The Swedish club confirmed that the attacking midfielder would join its squad in January. His contract will run through the end of the 2030 season. Speaking on his new team’s official website, the player said:

I am very happy and proud to join AIK. This is an important step in my career. I am ready to work hard and give my best for the club and its supporters.

AIK recruitment manager Miika Takkula described Fofana as an attacking midfielder who can also play on the left wing. The club official highlighted his understanding of the game, his timing in passing and duels, as well as his ability to beat opponents with his dribbling. He believes the player has significant room for development and is one of the most interesting prospects in the Ettan league.
