The kickoff for Ligue 1 is set for Friday, August 21, with the opening clash pitting Olympique de Marseille against Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace.

Both clubs boast several African players in their ranks, notably Algerian Amine Gouiri for the Marseille side and Senegalese Pape Daouda Diong for Strasbourg.

Africa will be strongly represented in the 2026-2027 edition of Ligue 1. In fact, most clubs feature players from the continent in their squads.

The Senegalese midfielder claims second place among African stars, with a market value of €40 million.

For the record, the AS Monaco player was valued at just €800,000 in 2023, when he played for FC Metz.

His Ligue 1 stats show 6 goals and 15 assists in 84 matches played.

Amine Gouiri losing ground

The Algerian international now occupies third place among Ligue 1’s most valuable African players, with a market value of €28 million.

He’s lost €22 million in value compared to his time at OGC Nice.

The Fennec has scored 65 goals and delivered 31 assists in 202 Ligue 1 appearances.

Martial Godo on the rise

In contrast to Gouiri, the Ivorian winger is making spectacular strides in the transfer market rankings.

His market value has soared to €25 million, an increase of €24.4 million compared to 2025.

In 28 Ligue 1 matches, he has netted 10 goals and provided 2 assists.

Arthur Avom rounds out the list

Cameroonian midfielder Arthur Avom has also seen his market value rise, now reaching €20 million.

In 2024, when he made his debut with FC Lorient , he was valued at just €100,000.
