Liverpool: Federico Chiesa tracked by three Italian clubs
Federico Chiesa could soon consider a return to Italy. Having joined Liverpool in summer 2024, the Italian international has struggled to establish himself with the Reds. According to Calciomercato.it, three Serie A clubs are now closely monitoring his situation: Atalanta, Inter Milan and Lazio.
A complicated spell at Liverpool
After making a strong impression in the colours of Juventus, Chiesa decided to leave Italy in 2024 to join Liverpool. However, his adaptation to England has not gone as planned. In 50 appearances for the Reds, the 28-year-old forward has managed just five goals and five assists. His situation is even more complicated this season. Chiesa has not played a single minute yet, with his absence linked to an injury.
This situation could prompt the former Juventus player to consider a new move. According to Calciomercato.it, Atalanta, Inter and Lazio are reportedly interested in him and could try to sign him as early as the January transfer window. A return to Serie A would allow Chiesa to return to a league he knows perfectly and in which he had established himself as one of the most important attacking players.
An important issue with Italy too
Beyond his club situation, Federico Chiesa must also regain playing time to return to the plans of the Italian national team. The forward has made 51 appearances and scored seven goals for the Azzurri since making his international debut in 2018. He was notably one of the team’s key players at Euro 2020.
Currently sidelined, Chiesa must first regain his fitness before he can hope to earn another place in the national team. The coming months will therefore be decisive for his future. With limited playing time at Liverpool and interest from several Italian clubs, a return to Serie A could become a concrete option as early as January, although no official approach has yet been made.
