Morocco: latest news on Mazraoui after his injury against Lesotho

Morocco claimed a second consecutive victory in the 2027 AFCON qualifiers by beating Lesotho (2-0) on Tuesday in the second round.

However, the match was marked by Noussair Mazraoui’s departure. The Manchester United defender was forced to leave the pitch in the 69th minute after sustaining an injury.

Ouahbi discusses the condition of his players

After the match, Morocco head coach Mohamed Ouahbi discussed the physical condition of his squad and reflected on the lessons to be drawn from the victory.

“We won the match, but it was clear that the objective was to play seriously and never give them hope that they could equalise or beat us,” Ouahbi said.

“I congratulate the players; they remained focused. What we lacked a little was the final touch, and that is also an aspect on which we continue to work mentally on the pitch,” he added.

The Morocco head coach also highlighted the seriousness shown by his team: “I appreciated the team’s seriousness. We are leaving with the objective we had set ourselves, namely to win this match without recording any injuries.”

Thanks to this success, Morocco move to the top of Group A with 6 points. The “Atlas Lions” have won both of their matches against Gabon and Lesotho by the same score of 2-, scoring four goals and conceding none.
