Following Roberto Martinez's announcement, Portugal wasted no time in finding his successor.

According to information from A Bola, Jorge Jesus is set to become the new head coach of the Seleção after the Spaniard's departure. The move was already expected after Portugal's elimination by Spain (0-1) in the Round of 16 at this World Cup.

Now a free agent after his stint at Al Nassr, Jesus is set to meet with Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença to finalize his appointment. His mission: to prepare the squad for Euro 2028 and then the 2030 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Portugal, Spain, and Morocco.
