Puso Dithejane maintains red-hot scoring form in MLS
Puso Dithejane found the back of the net as Chicago Fire secured a 2-1 victory over Orlando City in the Major League Soccer (MLS) on Thursday.
The 22-year-old broke the deadlock four minutes after the first whistle, before Antoine Griezmann assisted David Brekalo for the equaliser in the 52nd minutes.
Former FC Barcelona and legendary Polish striker Robert Lewandowski restored the lead from the penalty spot in the 68th minute.
Chicago moved up to third place with 35 points amassed from 19 games in the Eastern Conference, amid a three-game winning streak in the league.
Dithejane, meanwhile, has now scored four goals in 16 matches across all competitions for the Fire, as he appears to have settled in the MLS.
Notably, he scored a brace against Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup Round 3 earlier this month, helping his side advance to the next stage of the competition.
He joined Chicago Fire in January from Betway Premiership side TS Galaxy in a high-profile deal worth in the region of €1, 300 000 (R24 million).
Dithejane put pen to paper on a four-year deal that runs until June 2030, with the MLS club retaining an option to extend his stay in Chicago by one year.
Now, the Kaizer Chiefs academy product will be looking to add to his tally when Chicago visit New York Red Bulls on Sunday, 23 August.
