Speaking on the (Al Mehwar) channel, Mostafa Younes, former Al Ahly and Egypt national team defender, revealed that the Liverpool superstar has played a crucial behind-the-scenes role in the team’s preparation for the global stage.
“Mohamed Salah funded training materials and equipment for the national team, valued at around $200,000, to provide the players with the best possible conditions ahead of the World Cup,” Younes stated.
The former Egyptian international added that the Pharaohs’ captain also helped recruit a nutrition specialist to work with the national team, aiming to optimize the players’ physical condition and help them reach peak performance during the tournament.
Discussing the organization of the 2026 World Cup, Mostafa Younes emphasized that the edition held in Qatar set high standards in terms of organization and service quality.
“The differences with the Qatari World Cup are clear, but the responsibility for the event’s success is shared between the host countries and the organizing bodies,” he explained.
Egypt, under the guidance of Hossam Hassan, will kick off their World Cup campaign in a challenging group featuring Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
