The DR Congo national team held Portugal to a 1-1 draw in their opening match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.Sebastien Desabre expressed satisfaction with the point his side earned, but made it clear he won't settle for just that. The objective remains unchanged: to advance beyond the group stage.

Sebastien Desabre said: "It's a good start to the tournament, but we have to keep building on this momentum. We're happy with the draw."

After claiming a point against Portugal on Wednesday, June 17, DR Congo will next face Colombia on June 24, before wrapping up their group matches against Uzbekistan on June 28.
