Senegal: Lamine Sané appointed head coach of U-17 national team

The Senegalese Football Federation announced several new appointments at the helm of national teams on April 19. From now on, the men's U-17 squad will be under new leadership.

Lamine Sané was a standout player: captain of the Teranga Lions and of Girondins de Bordeaux. Six years after ending his professional career, the former defender returns with a new face—as head coach of Senegal's U-17 national team. He was appointed to this role on April 19 by the Senegalese Football Federation.

The former FC Utrecht player, now 39, succeeds Pape Ibrahima Faye in the role. His immediate mission: to lead Senegal's U-17 team in the Africa Cup of Nations for this age group, from May 13 to June 2, in Morocco.
