OGC Nice officially announced the arrival of Alidu Seidu this Friday, September 18. The Ghanaian defender joins on loan from Stade Rennais for one season, without an option to buy. He will bolster Nice’s defence following the injuries to Antoine Mendy and Moïse Bombito.

Alidu Seidu already knows Ligue 1 well. Having joined Rennes in January 2024 from Clermont Foot, the Ghana international has now made 106 appearances in the French top flight for the two clubs.

A versatile defender, he can play in the centre or at right-back. With Rennes, Seidu made 47 appearances in all competitions, including 30 starts, for a total of 2,697 minutes. He also provided one assist in a Rennes shirt.

The 2025-2026 season saw him feature in 21 Ligue 1 matches, including 13 starts. He played 1,185 minutes and provided one assist, without scoring.

Several starts in the spring

During the second half of the 2025-2026 season, Seidu notably started at right-back on matchdays 28, 29, 30 and 31 of Ligue 1.

His spell at Rennes therefore comes to an end after two and a half seasons. Since arriving in January 2024, he made 47 appearances for the Breton club.

No Ghana call-up for this international window

Alidu Seidu is not included in the squad selected by Carlos Queiroz for Ghana’s upcoming fixtures. The Black Stars head coach has called up 24 players for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Côte d’Ivoire on September 24 and Gambia on September 29, as well as the friendly against Morocco on October 4.

The defender nevertheless has 25 caps for Ghana. He notably took part in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was also included in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

At Nice, Alidu Seidu is now opening a new chapter in his career. On loan until the end of the 2026-2027 season, he will continue his Ligue 1 journey in the colours of Les Aiglons.
