TS Galaxy have knocked Mamelodi Sundowns out of the Nedbank Cup following a 2-0 victory at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Saturday.

Debutant Sphamandla Ngwenya opened the scoring in the 20th minute, punishing Masandawana for their error at the back.

Junior Zindoga doubled the lead from the spot 13 minutes later to give Adnan Beganovic's men a two-goal cushion at the interval.

Sundowns made valiant efforts to engineer a comeback, asking questions of the Galaxy defence that held firm for a major upset in the Round of 16.

The Rockets will now await their fate in the quarter-finals, with the draw set to be conducted on Monday evening.

Meanwhile, Sundowns missed out on yet another domestic cup title, with their last triumph dating back to the 2021/22 campaign.

Miguel Cardoso's men now have the Betway Premiership and the prestigious CAF Champions League as the only hope of silverware this season.
