Women's AFCON 2026: Burkina Faso 1-0 Tanzania at halftime
Burkina Faso is off to a strong start in pursuit of their first-ever win in the final stage of the Women's AFCON. At halftime at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, the Stallions Ladies lead Tanzania 1-0.
Adèle Naomie Kabré breaks the deadlock
It took persistence. In the 43rd minute, Adèle Naomie Kabré capitalized on a loose ball after a Tanzanian defensive clearance to open the scoring. A goal that rewards the Burkinabè's determination and could completely change the dynamic after their 1-4 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire.
VAR to the rescue for Burkina Faso
The match has been intense and physical. Tanzania thought they had found the breakthrough in the 29th minute. But after a VAR review, the Tanzanian goal was ruled out.
With this halftime lead, Burkina Faso are in a strong position to get back into contention in Group B. They’ll need to hold on for another 45 minutes to claim a historic first victory at this 2026 Women's AFCON. The Twiga Stars, meanwhile, will need to respond to avoid defeat after their win over South Africa 2-1.
