Champions League: Galatasaray beat Stuttgart (2-0)
In the opening match of the fourth round of the league phase of the Champions League, Galatasaray hosted Stuttgart on Tuesday evening. The Turkish side won in front of their supporters, scoring twice without conceding.
The Turkish side quickly took control from the outset thanks to an express brace from Batrakov, who scored twice within three minutes (12th, 15th). It was an excellent start for the Istanbul side, who then managed to preserve their advantage despite the Germans’ attempts.
Stuttgart in difficulty
Trailing, Stuttgart were further hampered by Karazor’s departure, with Yanik Spalt coming on in the 18th minute. The first half was therefore particularly stop-start, with several yellow cards shown to Undav (38th), Yilmaz (39th) and Spalt (45th). After the break, Galatasaray continued to defend their two-goal lead in an increasingly tense encounter.
Prömel (61st) and Sallai (62nd) were also booked, bringing the number of yellow cards shown since kick-off to six. Despite the pressure, Victor Osimhen and his teammates managed to preserve their lead and moved towards a valuable home victory (2-0).
