Aubameyang, already decisive on his return to Deportivo
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back on the pitch and wasted no time making an impact. Returning after surgery on his meniscus, the Gabonese striker played a part in Deportivo La Coruña's dramatic victory over Osasuna on Monday evening. Coming on in the 69th minute, he played a decisive role in the move that led to Bil Nsongo's goal in the 87th minute.
A comeback that changed the course of the match
With Deportivo trailing, Aubameyang gave Antonio Hidalgo a new attacking option. On a move initiated by Adama Traoré, the Gabonese forward rose inside the box to head his teammate's cross.
His effort was saved by Sergio Herrera, but Bil Nsongo followed up perfectly to fire the ball into the net and give the Galicians a 2-1 victory. The goal ended Deportivo's run of six league matches without a win.
Hidalgo praises Aubameyang's efforts
After the match, Antonio Hidalgo made no secret of his satisfaction at seeing his striker return. “Auba is someone special to us. He has made a lot of sacrifices in recent days,” the coach explained, highlighting the player's commitment to returning to competition quickly.
Aubameyang's return comes at an important time for Deportivo, who are looking to regain consistency after several difficult results. His experience, presence in the box and ability to trouble opposing defences could give Antonio Hidalgo more options. The Gabonese forward will now have to gradually regain his match fitness after his meniscus surgery.
