Thierno Barry continues to establish himself among Everton’s key players. On Tuesday evening, the striker secured victory for his side away to Newcastle (1-0), scoring the only goal of the match in the 49th minute. Another goal that takes his tally to eight this season in all competitions.

A goalscoring instinct that makes the difference

At St James' Park, Thierno Barry made perfect use of an opportunity in the box. After a Tyrique George effort was poorly handled by goalkeeper Lukas Horníček, the Frenchman followed up to put the ball into the net. This goal allowed Everton to leave with three valuable points and secure a second victory over Newcastle in the space of five days.

Despite his striker’s performances, David Moyes believes his record could have been even more impressive. The Everton manager feels that Barry has missed several important chances since the start of the season:

If he had converted those big chances, he would probably have already scored 15 or 16 goals.

Moyes acknowledges his importance to the team’s successes while encouraging him to become more clinical in front of goal.

A season already making its mark

With eight goals, Barry ranks among the most productive forwards in the Premier League this season. Only Erling Haaland, with 13 goals, has done better among players in the English league across all competitions.

At Everton, the French-Guinean has become an attacking reference point. If he manages to convert more of his chances, his tally could continue to rise in the coming weeks.
