This Tuesday evening, Galatasaray host Stuttgart at the start of the fourth matchday of the league phase of the Champions League.

Galatasaray head into this match in Istanbul with four wins in their last five competitive matches. Their recent results include a 4-0 victory over Konyaspor in the Süper Lig and a 2-1 derby win against Fenerbahçe. The only blot on the record was a 1-4 defeat to FC Barcelona in the Champions League. Overall, Galatasaray have scored eight goals and conceded ten during this period.

VfB Stuttgart, meanwhile, have won two of their last five competitive matches, including an impressive 4-2 victory away to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga and a 1-0 win over Paderborn in the German Cup. Two defeats, against Gladbach (2-3) and Hamburger SV (0-1), as well as a 1-1 draw against Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League, complete their record. Stuttgart have scored nine times and conceded eight goals during this period.

The probable line-ups

Galatasaray have predominantly used a 4-2-3-1 system in their first three Champions League matches of 2026. We can therefore expect a starting XI built around a back four, two central midfielders in front of the defence, three attacking midfielders or wingers and a lone striker.

Stuttgart, for their part, have alternated between two systems: the 4-2-3-1 (used twice) and the 3-2-4-1 (once). We can expect the Germans to favour the 4-2-3-1 again in order to better counter Galatasaray's similar formation.

Galatasaray: Cakir, Jakobs, Abdulkerim, Sanchez, Sallai; Sara, Torreira; Yilmaz, Batrakov, Akgun; Osimhen

VfB Stuttgart: Seimen; Jaquez, Chabot, Hendriks; Leweling, Karazor, Proemel, Fuehrich, Undav, El Khannouss; Demirovic
