Parisian hurricane sweeps Villarreal.. PSG shatters Real Madrid's 15 year old record in just 17 minutes
Paris Saint Germain have made UEFA Champions League history by becoming the fastest team to score four goals from kick-off in a single match, reaching the remarkable milestone within just 17 minutes against Villarreal on Tuesday 3 November 2026.
The French giants produced an extraordinary attacking display at the Estadio de la Cerámica, racing into a 4-0 lead during the opening 17 minutes of their fourth league phase encounter of the 2026 /27 Champions League campaign.
Luis Enrique's men surpassed a record that had stood for almost 15 years, underlining their exceptional attacking form in European football.
As Foot Africa reported before the encounter, PSG arrived in Spain having won their opening three Champions League matches, scoring 14 goals against Slovan Bratislava, Manchester City and Barcelona.
PSG surpass Real Madrid's historic Champions League record
The previous record belonged to Real Madrid who scored four goals in the opening 20 minutes against Dinamo Zagreb on 22 November 2011.
José Mourinho's team achieved that remarkable feat through Karim Benzema, José Callejón, Gonzalo Higuaín and Mesut Özil before eventually securing a 6-2 victory.
According to UEFA's official match report, the Spanish giants had established a four-goal advantage by the 20th minute.
That benchmark remained untouched for nearly 15 years, with Atlético Madrid coming close in March 2026 when they scored four times within 22 minutes against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, PSG's devastating opening against Villarreal has now established a new benchmark of just 17 minutes.
PSG's incredible attacking form continues
The record-breaking start represents another remarkable chapter in Paris Saint-Germain's increasingly impressive European campaign.
The reigning champions opened the league phase with a commanding 6-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava before defeating Manchester City 4-2 away from home.
Those results saw PSG equal the Champions League record for the most goals scored after three matches of a single campaign, matching Arsenal's 14 goal tally from the 2010 /11 season.
The extraordinary start against Villarreal has further strengthened their reputation as one of Europe's most dangerous attacking sides.
Morocco international Achraf Hakimi remains an important figure in the Parisian squad, having already moved closer to another historic African milestone in the competition.
