The first true showdown of the 2026-27 season sees Paris Saint-Germain take on Aston Villa this Wednesday, August 12, 2026 (7pm GMT), in Salzburg, Austria, for the UEFA Super Cup final.

Last year's champions, PSG are aiming to become only the second team in the modern era to retain the Super Cup, following Real Madrid's back-to-back triumphs in 2016 and 2017.

On the other side, they'll face a formidable Aston Villa side, fresh off their Europa League win after defeating SC Freiburg 3-0 on May 20, 2026, at Istanbul's Beşiktaş Park, with goals from Youri Tielemans (41'), Emiliano Buendía (45'+3), and Morgan Rogers (58').

PSG

Only one previous two-legged tie in the Champions League

Before this Wednesday's clash, the Parisians and the Villans have only met once before, in a two-legged quarter-final in the 2024-25 Champions League.

Luis Enrique's men took the first leg 3-1 at the Parc des Princes, with Désiré Doué (39’), Kvara Kvaratskhelia (49’), and Nuno Mendes (90+2’) answering Morgan Rogers' opener (35’).

A week later, PSG struck twice through Achraf Hakimi (11’) and Nuno Mendes (27’) to bring the aggregate score to 5-1. Youri Tielemans (34’), John McGinn (55’), and Ezri Konsa (57’) narrowed the gap, but the comeback never materialized, and PSG marched on to their first Champions League title.
