On the eve of their UEFA Super Cup clash against Aston Villa, Luis Enrique made no secret of PSG's ambitions for the 2026-2027 season.

Tomorrow marks the start of a new campaign for Paris Saint-Germain. After the remarkable feat of defending their European crown with a second consecutive Champions League title, the Parisians face the daunting challenge of clinching the UEFA Super Cup against Aston Villa this Wednesday. It's a crucial match for Luis Enrique, who commented, “Every team wants to win a European trophy and we'll see what kind of game both teams can produce on Wednesday. In preseason, we had many players absent. It's difficult to assess who will play.”

Luis Enrique’s objective is to complete the treble and go for a third consecutive Champions League title. “We set very ambitious goals from the start and we’ll keep going in that direction. It’s a different moment now and everyone believes we can win again. But that’s just theory—you have to show on the pitch that you’ve got what it takes. We want to win again but it’s never easy, as history shows. We want to be like those great teams,” he declared.

Speaking again at the press conference, Luis Enrique admitted his squad won’t be at peak readiness in August. “Last year was unusual, and this year is too. In terms of preparation, it’s complicated to manage the workload and how many minutes each player can handle. We’re trying to get ready in the best way possible. I don’t know what level my players will be at tomorrow after their time off at home. We’ll see on Wednesday—we’ll try to play at our best. We want to be in top form at the end of the season, not necessarily at the start,” confessed the Spaniard.
