Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior continued his fine form on Tuesday with crucial goal against Benfica in first leg of Champions League playoff for a place in the round of 16.
Playing at the Estádio da Luz, Vinícius opened the scoring in the 50 minute giving Real Madrid 1-0 lead.
The goal confirmed his growing influence on Europe’s biggest stage and added another landmark to his career.
Past Kaká, Eyes on Neymar
According to football statistics account Stat Foot, Vinícius has now surpassed Kaká in Champions League scoring charts.
The Brazilian winger reached 31 goal in 77 match moving into second place among Brazilian players in the competition’s history.
Kaká finished his Champions League career with 30 goal while Rivaldo sits behind with 27 goal.
The list is led by Neymar who scored 43 goal during spells with Barcelona & Paris Saint-Germain.
Vinícius now 25 year old is closing the gap and is clearly targeting Neymar’s record if his current scoring rate continues.

Vinícius’ rise is not limited to Europe. He recently overtook Neymar in La Liga goals reaching 69 league goals compared to Neymar’s 68 during his time in Spain.
