Ismaïla Sarr has written his name into Senegalese football history, becoming the nation’s all‑time leading goalscorer at the World Cup.

The 28‑year‑old has been among the most impressive players at the tournament, netting four times during the group stage before adding a fifth in Senegal’s round‑of‑32 victory over Belgium. That strike saw him surpass the previous record of three goals, held by the late Papa Bouba Diop, to claim the top spot

With five goals, Sarr also matched the record for the most goals scored by an African player in a single World Cup edition, joining Roger Milla on the list. Only Asamoah Gyan, with six, sits above him on the all‑time African scoring chart. The milestone underscores Sarr’s influence on the biggest stage, further cementing his place among the continent’s greats.
