Against Senegal (3-2, a.e.t.) yesterday in the round of 16 of this 2026 World Cup, Romelu Lukaku left the qualification penalty to Youri Tielemans.

Speaking to RTBF, the former Manchester United Red Devils striker explained his decision. "I was about to take it, but I'm still going through some tough times mentally and I preferred Youri to step up. It's not about me, it's about the team winning. Victories are what unite the group even more. That's the most important thing, for the fans and for ourselves," said the Red Devils' striker.

That decision proved to be a winning one for Belgium.
