After a 3-2 defeat to Norway, the Teranga Lions resumed training. All eyes were on their return as Senegal faces a major challenge in the 2026 World Cup.

Three players were noticeably absent during the first 15 minutes of the training session open to the press. Edouard Mendy, who left the pitch injured against Norway, did not take part in the session. The Senegalese Football Federation has officially confirmed his absence against Iraq on Tuesday.

Ismaïla Sarr, who netted a brace against Norway (2-3), and Nicolas Jackson were also missing from training. No official statement has been made about their conditions yet, but their absence adds to the growing concerns in the Senegalese camp.

Pape Thiaw also broke with his usual routine. Normally, key players are given rest the day after a match, but this time, nearly the entire squad took part in training. That decision reflects the magnitude of the challenge after back-to-back defeats—3-1 to France and 3-2 to Norway. Senegal can no longer afford any missteps.
