Belgium will face Spain again this Friday, July 10 at 7pm GMT in Los Angeles, in a rematch of the 1986 World Cup quarter-final. This marks the fourth time in their history that the Red Devils have reached this stage of the tournament.

Belgium's record in World Cup quarter-finals is quite positive: 2 wins and 1 loss. Romelu Lukaku and his teammates are now aiming for a third trip to the semi-finals.

The Belgians first reached the quarter-finals in 1986. In Mexico, they edged past Spain on penalties (1-1, 5-4 on penalties) to advance to the semi-finals, where they were knocked out by Argentina (2-0).

In 2014, Belgium also fell to Argentina (1-0), this time in the quarter-finals (0-1). Four years later, they knocked out Brazil (2-1) before losing to the eventual champions, France (1-0) in the semi-finals.
