The decision to present a new FIFA Peace Prize this Friday, widely expected to go to the American president on the sidelines of the draw, further fuels the perception of an institution that is too susceptible to political agendas. Infantino, who never misses an opportunity to praise Trump's actions, particularly in diplomacy and security, is being accused by former top officials like Miguel Maduro of violating the obligation of political neutrality.

Even observers like Australian researcher Steve Georgakis believe a red line has been crossed: “Wherever Trump is, Infantino is with him,” he said, reminding that FIFA, with more members than the UN, should instead stand as an impartial counterbalance to government influence.
