World Cup 2026: Egypt furious after incident with police (video)
Egypt’s arrival in Dallas was marked by an unexpected scene. In front of the team’s hotel, an incident involving an American police officer, a young fan, and members of the Egyptian staff caused quite a commotion.
According to several videos shared on social media, a child was trying to take a selfie with a player when the security officer intervened forcefully, knocking the young fan’s phone to the ground. The reaction immediately sparked the anger of head coach Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim Hassan, the team’s director. The two confronted the police officer in a tense exchange before the situation gradually calmed down.
Afterwards, Ibrahim Hassan confirmed that the player in question agreed to pose for a photo with the child. To make amends, the Egyptian Football Association committed to replacing the damaged phone and offered the young supporter and his father tickets to attend the World Cup round of 16 match against Australia. This unusual episode won’t distract the Pharaohs as they focus on their crucial clash in the competition later today.
