At halftime of this Australia vs Egypt clash, the Pharaohs lead on the scoreboard (1-0).

Despite an encouraging start, Australia soon lost their rhythm when playing out from the back and gradually allowed Egypt to dictate the tempo. After Ashour’s initial attempt was blocked, Hafez whipped in a cross from the right for the same Ashour, unmarked at the far post, who headed home (0-1, 13’).

The Pharaohs managed the tempo without really pushing forward, with Salah dropping deep to orchestrate play and Marmoush threatening with a deflected shot. In the second half, they’ll need to hold firm to secure qualification.
