World Cup 2026 - Germany: Nico Schlotterbeck ruled out for the rest of the tournament

Terrible news for Germany and Nico Schlotterbeck at this 2026 World Cup.

Forced to leave the pitch at halftime against Ivory Coast (2-1) last Saturday, German center-back Nico Schlotterbeck is officially out for the remainder of this 2026 World Cup.

According to information from Sky Germany this Monday, the Borussia Dortmund player has suffered a ligament injury to his left ankle. This means he will be out for an estimated 6 to 8 weeks. In his absence, Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann is expected to turn to Antonio RΓΌdiger to partner Jonathan Tah at the heart of the defense.
