The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has announced the winner of the best goal award for the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, currently being held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The global football governing body revealed that Uzbekistan national team captain Eldor Shomurodov claimed the distinction after securing 36% of the fans’ votes.

The Uzbek striker was honored for his stunning goal against the Democratic Republic of Congo during the group stage of the tournament.

Shomurodov emphatically led the popular vote, earning 36% of the ballots. He finished ahead of Haiti’s Wilson Isidor, who received 26.5%, while Bosnia’s Kerim Alajbegovic completed the podium with 24.9%.

FIFA also noted that voting for the best goal will continue in each round of the competition. A final vote will be held after the tournament to crown the most beautiful goal of this 2026 World Cup.

To recap, Uzbekistan exited the tournament at the group stage despite a historic participation—their first-ever appearance at a World Cup.
