World Cup 2026: Lamine Yamal confident of facing the French team!
Lamine Yamal has dismissed any suggestion that France are superior to Spain, insisting that Luis de la Fuente’s side fears no one at the 2026 World Cup.
On the eve of Spain’s knockout match against Austria, the 18‑year‑old winger was asked about the threat posed by Les Bleus and responded with characteristic confidence.
“France hasn’t beaten us in two years, so you can’t call them stronger than us. They’re at a great level, they have fantastic players, but I don’t think they’re superior to anyone,” Yamal said.
In his view, Spain are the team to beat. He made clear that La Roja are not intimidated by reputations and that their recent record against France speaks for itself. The young winger’s comments add an extra edge to the knockout stages, as Spain look to back up his words on the pitch.
