Lionel Messi just can't find the net from the penalty spot at this 2026 World Cup.

After failing from the spot against Austria (2-0) earlier in this edition, Lionel Messi was once again denied by Egypt's goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir this Tuesday during the round of 16 clash (0-1, ongoing). The former PSG star saw his shot brilliantly saved to the left by the Pharaohs' keeper.

Across his career in this competition, Messi has now missed 4 out of 8 penalty attempts (a record), making him the player with the most missed penalties in World Cup history!
